ADVENT DEVOTIONAL

Advent is a season of anticipation, reflection, and hope as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Each week, we invite you to journey with us through Scripture, prayer, and reflection as we light the candles of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. New devotionals added each Sunday throughout the season. May these readings encourage you, deepen your faith, and help you slow down and make space for Christ in your daily life.

  • 1 st Week of Advent: HOPE | The Journey From Heaven… Jesus Comes to Us

DAY 1 — The Eternal Beginning: John 1:1–5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word

was God.  2  He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were

made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

Reflection: Advent hope begins before Bethlehem, before creation itself.

Christ, the eternal Word, existed long before the manger. Hope isn’t wishful

thinking; it is grounded in our eternal God who is the beginning and the

    end.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, anchor my hope in who You are; everlasting,

    unchanging.

Action: Write one thing you are hoping God will transform this Advent.

  • DAY 2 — The Light Shines: Isaiah 9:2

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the

land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

Reflection: Hope shines brightest in darkness. If your year has felt

shadowed, Advent reminds you that light still breaks in unexpectedly.

Prayer: Light of the world, shine into the dark corners of my heart.

Action: Turn off all lights for a minute. Then light one candle and thank God

    for His hope.

  • DAY 3 — God Moves First: 1 John 4:19

We love because he first loved us.

Reflection: Advent is a story of God initiating—the journey starts in

heaven. We respond, but God acts first.

Prayer: Father, thank You that You move toward me even when I hesitate.

Action: Reach out to someone you’ve been waiting for them to contact

    you.

  • DAY 4 — The Promise of His Coming: 2 Samuel 7:12-13

God promises David, “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your

fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who will come from your own

body, and I will establish his kingdom. He will build a house for My Name,

and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever”

Reflection: God promised King David a Savior. Advent reminds us God

keeps His promises no matter how long the wait.

Prayer: God, give me patience to trust Your long-term faithfulness.

Action: Meditate on one promise of God you rely on.

  • DAY 5 — The Word Became Flesh: John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His

glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and

    truth.

Reflection: Hope is not an idea, it is a person. Jesus dwells within us.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for entering my world, not from afar but up close.

Action: Do something today to “be present” with someone who needs you.

  • DAY 6 — A Hope for All People: Revelation 7:9

After this I looked and saw a multitude too large to count, from every nation

and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the

    Lamb.

Reflection: The journey from heaven had the nations in mind; Christ came

    for every tribe and tongue.

Prayer: Lord, expand my heart for those unlike me.

Action: Pray for believers in another country.

  • DAY 7 — Waiting With Expectation: Psalm 130:5

I wait for the LORD; my soul does wait, and in His word I put my hope.

Reflection: Hope waits—but not passively. Christian waiting is watchful,

    expectant, trusting.

Prayer: Teach me to wait well, Lord.

Action: Practice a moment of stillness today (set a timer for 2–3 minutes).
